The outriggers

First I made a number of CAD drawings of the outriggers.
So I could make decisions for the construction.

Along the way I decided that the horizontal movement of the outriggers will be done by electric motors and not by hydraulics.

When using hydraulic cylinders you have the hoses and there simply isn't enough space to put them in.
I had to put in several valve and would have taken to much space.

The vertical cylinder is a hydraulic one.
They have the advantage that they are more powerful as one with an electric motor of the same measurements.

The cylinder is made of a iron tube which is closed at one end, on the other side is a brass ring which takes the seal and closing ring.
The connecting parts for the outriggers is welded on to the cylinder.

For the construction of the outriggers I used iron rectangle tubes and flat iron.

The first to rectangle parts I have made of scrap metal I found.
To give the inner part of the outriggers the right measurements I needed to weld it together out of three parts.
